The iWOOD platform was created thanks to the technological and professional background of the Centre of Excellence in Forestry and Wood Sciences LignoSilva, established by the team of the National Forest Centre.
LignoSilva focuses on digitalisation, optimisation and automation of processes in the forest and wood sector and creates conditions for new solutions to be not only developed but also tested in practice.
A key element for iWOOD is the centre’s unique infrastructure – a 3D CT scanning line for roundwood, which makes it possible to build accurate 3D models and identify internal defects in timber.
This technological foundation gives the iWOOD platform a comparative advantage: it enables auction listings with high-quality, comparable roundwood data, increasing transparency in trading and confidence in buyers’ decisions.
iWOOD thus naturally builds on LignoSilva’s mission: it connects research and development capacity, modern technologies and the needs of practice into one functional solution for the digital timber market.
